Privacy Policy

CreaseDeals has no accounts, no sign-up, no email list and no adverts. It sets no cookies. We do not know who you are, and we have not built anything that could tell us.

What we do not do

• No accounts, logins, or profiles.
• No contact forms, newsletters, or email collection.
• No cookies, local storage, or device fingerprinting.
• No advertising networks and no ad tracking.
• No selling, renting, or sharing of personal information. There is nothing to sell.
• No cross-site tracking, and no profile of you built anywhere.

What a visit actually produces

Two things, neither of which identifies you to us personally:

• Server logs. The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting and Google Cloud, which keep standard access logs — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, and your browser's user-agent string. Every web server on the internet records this in order to answer a request at all. These are Google's logs, kept under Google's retention, and we do not analyse them or connect them to anything.
• Umami analytics. A small script on the homepage and some other pages counts page views, and records what you do with the controls — which category or sort you pick, what you type in the search box, and which deal you click through to. It sets no cookie. It recognises a visit by hashing your IP address together with your user-agent string and our site's id — so what is stored is the hash and never your address, and because our site's id is part of it, the same script on someone else's site cannot produce the same hash. It can tell that one visitor looked at four pages in an afternoon. It tells us how many people read a page, and which of our defaults are wrong. It does not tell us which people, and it does not follow you to any other site.

Who else sees you when you load a page

This is the part most privacy policies leave out. Loading any web page means asking several companies for files, and each one necessarily sees your IP address in order to send you anything. On CreaseDeals that list is:

• Google — the main site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page renders. This page, the about page and the crawler disclosure deliberately load no webfonts at all and so make no such request.
• The retailers whose products we list — product images are loaded directly from each retailer's own image servers rather than copied onto ours, so those retailers see your IP address when a deal card renders. We do this on purpose: it keeps their images under their control and does not pass their bandwidth costs to them under a different name. It does mean they can see that a browser somewhere loaded an image.
• Umami — serves the analytics script described above and receives what it records. We use their hosted service on its United States region, so what it records is stored in the US. If you are reading this from the UK or the EU, that is a transfer out of your jurisdiction.
• Google Cloud — hosts and serves the site itself.

When you click through to a retailer

Every deal links through /go/ on our domain before redirecting you to the retailer. That step adds one to a counter on the product, so we know a listing was clicked. It records nothing about you — no IP address, no identifier, no timestamp, no per-click history. The counter cannot be traced back to a person because the information required to do that is never written down.

The analytics script above also notes the click in your browser, along with the deal's retailer, category and discount — so within one visit it can tell that a browser filtered to helmets and then clicked a helmet. Block it and the counter on our server still counts the click, because that half never depended on your browser cooperating.

Once the redirect lands you on the retailer's site you are on their property, under their privacy policy, and they may well use cookies and tracking of their own. We have no control over and no visibility into what they do.

Children

CreaseDeals is a shopping tool for parents, players, and coaches. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children, since we do not collect it from adults either.

Your rights, and why there is little to exercise them on

Laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal information a company holds about you. We hold none that identifies you, so in practice there is nothing for us to hand over or erase. Server logs held by our hosting provider are the exception, and those are addressed to Google under their own policy.

Changes

If this site ever starts collecting something — an email list, saved favourites, anything at all — this page changes before that ships, and the date at the top changes with it. We would rather tell you first than explain afterwards.
